“Rome is just a city that inspires awe. It’s cinematic, it’s dramatic, it’s urban, it’s got a pulse, and it’s got obviously all this incredible natural beauty and history. It’s the perfect spot.” —MK

SEE THE SIGHTS

Start your day at the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps to experience them before the city wakes up. From there, we recommend a visit to the Galleria Borghese, an art gallery located in one of the city’s most beautiful parks. The interiors are breathtaking on their own, but the collection of Renaissance and Baroque art will leave you even more inspired. Of course, you can’t leave Rome without a stroll (or Vespa ride) around the Colosseum.

EMBRACE LA DOLCE VITA

Gelato is a must—and Michael’s favorite is at Frigidarium, a short walk from the Piazza Navona. If you prefer pastries, nearby Pasticceria La Deliziosa is a hidden gem where you can try one of Rome’s most iconic treats, the maritozzo. Afterwards, search the racks at Omero E Cecilia, Michael’s go-to vintage shop, for a unique souvenir.

WINE & DINE

Ease into the evening with an aperitivo at natural wine bar Enoteca Il Piccolo. Our tip: snag a seat outside for prime people-watching. When it’s time for dinner, make your way through the bustling Campo de’ Fiori to Ristorante Camponeschi, where you can expect fresh seafood, homemade pasta and modern takes on traditional Roman dishes. For something that feels more off the beaten path, try Osteria La Querica. It’s tucked away in a quiet piazza and serves memorable cacio e pepe and amatriciana.

HAVE A NIGHT ON THE TOWN

Enjoy all that Rome has to offer after dark, starting at Cielo, the chic rooftop bar at Hotel de la Ville. Order one of their signature cocktails and take in a sweeping, starlit view of the city. Want a nightcap? Head to Argot Bar, a late-night speakeasy with a cool, moody ambiance and inventive drinks.
